Job Description / Requirements
Mission of Function:
The Trading Manager is responsible for 1) overseeing the trading for the capacity of the company’s portfolio of plants into the WESM; 2) ensuring that the company’s revenues are maximized by developing strategic price and volume offers given the dynamic and varying market conditions, plant capacity levels, energy price volatility and the unpredictability of the resources.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Market Intelligence
Develops and designs strategic volume and price offers by using the real-time dispatch and prices, for approval of the Trading & Risk Management Head.
Analyzes competitors’ offering pattern, considering relevant costs, and using day-ahead and week-ahead projections and all relevant data for input to the in-house offering pattern.
Analyzes market and systems conditions and other relevant information submitted by the Traders for the development of strategic offering in the market, subject to the approval of the Trading & Risk Management Head.
Trading
Monitors, analyzes and coordinates the status of the WESM, including competitor’s offering behavior for the in-house development of offering in the spot market.
Supervises the trading operations and ensures compliance to market requirements, risk management procedures, WESM Rules, Grid Operator, ERC and other regulatory agencies.
Undertakes short-term risk assessment with focus on optimizing plant capacities in relation to the trading objective of maximizing revenues.
Reviews the analyses done by the Traders pertaining to the drawn assumptions and computations vis-à-vis the actual results to ensure effectiveness of the models used in the analysis.
Checks, reviews and analyzes the daily trading reports submitted by the Traders for top management’s information and reference.
REQUIREMENTS:
Competencies (knowledge-Experience-Capabilities)
Understanding of the WESM business processes and business operations of the competitors in the Market.
High skills in analyzing competitive market behavior for purposes of offering in the market.
Adequate experience in consolidating and sorting out market data submitted by the Traders for competitive offers in the market.
Results-oriented, resourceful and able to handle the pace and demands in an evolving power industry.
Communication skills, both written and verbal, with the presence, stature, and confidence to serve as a
spokesperson of the company to various clients.
EXPERIENCE (No. of Years): Professional: At least 4 Four (4) to 10 years experience in electricity trading; preferably came from the power industry.
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in various fields of Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or related business field or its equivalent.
