Protection Officer – Action Against Hunger USA

Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for Action Against Hunger in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: Nutrition, Food, Security and Livelihood, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Disaster Risk Reduction Management, Advocacy and Good Governance.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow-up on Protection Activities related to activities in Surigao del Sur, Maguindanao, and Zamboanga City.
In particular, carry out Protection Trainings for ten local governments (city/municipal and barangay) in key areas.
Conceptualize and implement round table discussions and related events on protracted displacement.
Implement and develop an advocacy strategy focused on IDP protection.
Engage protection actors in the areas and ensure that findings and learning from the project are incorporated in their strategies, approaches, and plans.
Lead in writing of documents related to implementation of protection activities (activity proposals, communications, reports, analyses, etc.)
Provide input to support advocacy and protection intervention of Action Against Hunger, more specifically in preparing further documents.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor degree preferably in the field of Social or Political Science, Public Administration, Communication Development or related field.
Experience in the analysis and interpretation of protection related information.
Ability to work with various partners, in a spirit of openness, and with adaptable communication strategies.
Very good knowledge of the said areas in Mindanao and ability of movement in the field.
Minimum of two years of relevant working experience in related fields with a focus in the area of protection and advocacy.
Knowledge in humanitarian programming and previous work with international NGOs will be preferred.
Good command of English, both written and spoken.
Excellent knowledge in MS project, Microsoft Office application.
Excellent communication and organization skills.
Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
