JOB SUMMARY & KEY PRIORITIES:
This position will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of agriculture content of the FarmerLink program in the Philippines. The program delivers four solution components to smallholder farmers: improved productivity, improved access to appropriate financial services, improved market access and an early warning system to reduce losses to extreme weather events and pest and diseases. This individual will use his or her knowledge of science communication and agronomy as well as excellent program management, field management, and account management skills to help develop and execute mobile agriculture programs in the Philippines.
KEY RESULTS:
This role is accountable for designing and delivering agriculture content services related to the project. Work involves partnering closely with the consortium of partners to generate results and deliver against deadlines. The Lead, Content and Services reports to the Program Manager and is accountable for:
Work planning and execution of content services of the FarmerLink program. Sample content includes agronomic content that will be uploaded to Grameen Foundation’s mobile application and tools,SMS, voice messages and videos
Working with the University of the Philippines Los Banos-Project Sarai to construct and validate the content tree of the 5 main modules of the program. These include coconut and cacao good agricultural practices (GAPs), organic farming practices, certification practices and financial literacy
Designing and packaging the final content into messages that will be readily uploaded to the TaroWorks and CKW Search mobile applications
Designing and packaging the final content modules into SMS and IVR campaigns
Designing and developing relevant and effective programming of IVR campaigns to drive interest and adoption among target farmer segments
Assisting the Field Operations specialist in training modules for extension agents who will provide the content to farmers
Supporting the monitoring and evaluation data analyst in designing baseline survey to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs)
Liaising with consortium partners in relation to content development
Collaborating closely with technology team on solution design and development
Serving as a subject matter expert for agronomy related questions
EDUCATION BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
5-8 years of overall experience managing substantive projects and teams
Minimum 5 years experience in science communication, agronomy, agricultural extension, or agriculture economics
Masters’ degree preferred in Agronomy, Agriculture Economist, or related field
Fluency in Visayan preferred
Experience working in a global / multicultural organizations across multiple time zones a strong plus (+)
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Deep understanding of challenges facing poor, smallholder farmers and corresponding product/solution needs; combined with deep commitment to eradicating poverty.
High level of expertise in agronomy and packaging technical advice for low-literate farmers
Understanding of the local context, target audience needs, and regulatory environment
High level of skill required in project management – helping build, pilot, and scale initiatives; and effective prioritization and execution of active projects
Strong execution skills, and ability to overcome and work around operational obstacles
Communication and relationship management skills; with an ability to influence others without authority, work in a networked organization, and deliver results with diverse partners
Ability to analyze data, identify issues and recommendations, and work with stakeholders to get decisions in a timely manner
