Insurance Operations Manager – JTI – Manila

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Insurance placement;
This position is fully responsible to plan, implement, maintain, and monitor assigned insurance programs in line with company operating guidelines, policy & procedures, department strategy, insurance market conditions, and to adapt to approved business models as appropriate. This position is responsible for every aspect of the assigned insurances, not limited to: risk exposure data collection and consolidation, qualitative and quantitative analysis of risk exposures, preparation of insurance market submission, developing alternative program structures, technical analysis of insurance quotation, technical analysis of insurance policy global and local policy wording and all related endorsements for contract certainty, insurance rate and coverage conditions negotiation, preparation of renewal proposal documentation as per department standard for internal approvals, binding instructions, Insurance Premium Tax, insurance premium allocation and premium adjustments, premium cross charge calculation, local policy compliance, prompt flow of premium and claims funds, change requests, summary of insurance, schedule of insurance, evidence of cover, ID’s, policy archiving, records management, and other ongoing day-to-day insurance activities in line with departmental requirements and company policy & procedures.
This position is responsible for the placement, negotiation, claims and other related activities as assigned, related to the integrated programs for JTG companies under the Controlled Global Master Insurance Framework.

2. Claims management;
This position is fully responsible for the management of claims for assigned insurance categories for JTG, in accordance with company policy & procedures. Position is responsible for the investigation, qualitative and quantitative claims data evaluation & validation, correction/adjustment, claims coordination, documentation, data collection, data analysis, record keeping, reserve adjustments, subrogation, and expeditious settlement and for ensuring the payment of all claims for assigned classes of insurance expeditiously.
This entails negotiation of complex insurance coverage issues with external insurance claim specialists, brokers, and loss adjustors, drawing in internal specialists from Legal, Logistics, Global Supply Chain, Compliance, Finance, Procurement, Corporate Security, Quality, Quality Assurance, R&D, Human Resources, and other functions, ensuring that the most favorable claims settlements are received by the relevant entities and ensuring that any subsequent remediation/risk mitigation efforts are documented, implemented, monitored.
This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of information in the department’s loss/claim databases for the assigned class of insurance. This position regularly evaluates claims handling processes and sub-processes in place and proposes area for improvements.
This position is responsible for the claims services as assigned for the JTG companies under the Controlled Global Master Insurance Framework.

3. Risk Mitigation, Risk Control and loss prevention;
The position is fully responsible for promoting risk awareness and best practices in risk mitigation processes and standards within the JTG companies to support the business in reducing insured operational risks that could have a significant operational or negative financial impact to JTG, not limited to enabling the development of baselines, policy & procedures, risk control standards, guidelines, and training programs related to risk mitigation.
The position works with various functions, professional risk engineering specialists, security consultants, or other risk management experts and liaises regularly with factories, markets, and various HQ functions such as Manufacturing, Customer Services, Global Logistics, Quality Assurance, R&D, Finance, Corporate Security, HR, Travel Services, etc., to improve risk mitigation processes and requirements and to monitor compliance within the established risk mitigation standards and guidelines, in order to improve JTG’s insured risk quality and risk profile. This position is responsible for the risk control activities as assigned related to the JTG’s Controlled Global Master Insurance Framework.
4. Global Insurance Network Servicing & Risk Services;
This position is fully responsible for timely and quality servicing and communication on global insurance and risk management matters to internal customers across all JTG companies for assigned classes of insurance. This positions coordinates, organizes, and directs, and monitors the international network of insurance brokers as well as insurance companies in the local servicing of JTG companies worldwide, to ensure the most effective and successful management of the locally issued policies for assigned insurance classes.
This requires technical insurance knowledge of the insurance coverage as well as a firm understanding of global network servicing best practices for assigned classes of insurances, in order to coordinate, negotiate, instruct, and monitor insurance brokers and insurance companies to deliver overall quality services to the JTG companies.
5.Controlled Global Master Insurance Framework for the JTG companies;
This position provides the necessary support and services, and technical expertise to the JTG companies in respect of the Controlled Global Master Insurance Framework, regarding coverage, program design, best practices, market review, brokers / consultants, risk mitigation processes, and other associated activities.
6. Other: AP/SP, Audits, Legal Contract / Legal Agreement Reviews/Special Projects;
This position obtains and reports budgetary estimation from relevant insurance brokers and insurance companies for assigned classes prior to AP/SP submission as well as BIP submission for Integration following acquisition.
This position provides all necessary documentation, analysis, reporting, and support as assigned for: Financial Plans, Budgeting, Forecasts, Internal Audit, Due Diligence & Integration, Special Projects, etc., as required.
This position reviews various Legal Agreements & Contracts, such as Manufacturing, Transportation, IT, HR, Outsourcing, Acquisition/Merger, Suppliers & Service Providers, Vendors, etc., and develops and proposes insurance clauses, claims reporting, risk handling instructions, and contractual risk transfer wordings as per departmental requirements.

EDUCATION:
University Bachelor’s Degree, University Engineering Degree, or a University degree in insurance, finance, or similar field.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 progressive years of insurance underwriting, insurance brokerage, or risk management experience required. Accredited insurance qualification is a pre-requisite.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:
Experience and technical knowledge of global insurance policies and risk management techniques are required as well skills in qualitative and quantitative exposure data analysis, underwriting submission preparation, negotiation, claims submission and negotiation, loss prevention, including the know-how to engage and succeed in detailed insurance coverage, pricing discussions and negotiations, insurance claim negotiations, and selection of insurance underwriters, insurance brokers, claims specialists, and others.

High-proficiency is required in the following areas:
Complex techniques of P&C insurance coverage conditions;
Familiarity with global insurance markets;
Risk exposure data analyses (qualitative & quantitative);
Loss control and risk mitigation techniques;
Oral & written English communication/documentation;
Insurance claims, legal environment, and insurance coverage interpretation;
Best practices in insurance management & risk management;
Credit or financial risk management is considered a plus;
Tobacco industry or fast moving consumer goods (preferred).

Strong organizational skills to co-ordinate and manage various internal resources, insurance broker, and insurance companies in the implementation and maintenance of various global insurance programs and claims management.
The ability to work effectively, credibly, and responsibly and to coordinate projects under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
High proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, as well as familiarity with standard risk management information systems.
