Global Assurance Senior – Plan – Manila

Job summary:
This is a local contract based in Manila and therefore we are looking for someone who is based in the Philippines with the legal right to live and work there. For an exceptional candidate, a work permit may be available but please note that the position is being offered on local terms and conditions of employment.

Dimensions of Role:
• Reports to Global Assurance Manager (primarily to the Regional GAM who is the line manager and to other GAMs on an assignment basis)
• Post has no direct reports but manages less experienced team members and secondees on assurance assignments
• Executes assurance assignments globally as per GA assurance planning

Key End Results and typical Responsibilities:
Implementation of the GA Approach & Strategy:
• Act as a team member on various projects or products to implement the strategy as a member of the GA Department as agreed with the GA Manager
• Active engagement with other GA team members to ensure consistent implementation of the Assurance approach and strategy
Providing Assurance: Executing assurance engagements on key systems, processes, policies and controls carried out at Regional or Global level
• Plans for assurance engagements as assigned by the GA Manager on the work plan
• Conducts assurance assignments in line with the standards for professional practice for internal auditing and GA charter
• Ensures that assignments are completed on time and budget
• Produce reports and completed working papers in line with GA quality standards
• Assists the GA manager in providing limited monitoring on the process of managements’ monitoring of management Actions in response to assurance reviews
Change Management, management support and learning: Influence change within and across the organisation to strengthen risk management, accountability and effectiveness and support management in improving operations and provide a platform for learning across Plan
• Provide practical recommendations during assignments on how to improve systems, processes, policies and controls
• Facilitate the sharing of learning based on best practices or from different units within the organisation
Relationship Management: Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate conduct of assurance engagements
• Develops effective relationships with other team members on various assignments
• Builds and develops effective relationships with management at country, regional and national office level
• Liaises with local networks of technical specialists and other relevant professional bodies to build their knowledge of auditing and the operating environment
Team Management: Manage assignment team and ensure the work is performed by a team which is cost-effective, efficient, skilled in their area of expertise and compliant with the expectation Plan has of all staff
• Manages less experienced GA staff and secondees on individual staff on assurance assignments
• Coach less experienced Regional GA staff and secondees on assurance assignments
Dealing with Problems:
• Readiness to carry out assurance assignments across a large geographical area and multiple countries in diverse work environment and varying risk levels
• Ability to provide recommendations to management at a country, regional or national office level on how to improve the control framework and manage risks in various contexts and across different functions
• Ability to respond to changing situations when carrying out assurance assignments which require quick decisions to be made to change the approach to suit the situation
• Diplomacy in dealing with management teams in a multicultural environment across a large geographical area

• Members of the Global Assurance team within the region
• Global Assurance Managers and Seniors from other regions of assignments
• Regional Director, DRDs and Country Directors to address their assurance needs

• Technical networks and professional bodies to exchange knowledge on relevant areas

Physical Environment and Demands:
Based in ARO Regional Office (Manila – Sub regional office) with extensive travel within and outside the region (approx 60%)
Level of contact with children
The position delivers assignments through visit of country office and program units in Plan countries which may involve children hence a medium level of contact with children.
