About EPCALM:
EPCALM is a God-centered, non-stock, non-profit organization called to reach out and help victims of adult leukemia and their families. Duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, EPCALM is the only non-profit organization of its kind in the country. Its three service arms are:
* Spiritual (Pastoral Care and Visitation) – EPCALM is works through a network of volunteers who offer their time to provide a helping hand to assist patients and their families in their special needs as deemed appropriate and practical.
* Medical – Linkage with research facilities like the National Cancer Instititute (NCI)/National Institutes of Health (NIH) based in Bethesda, Maryland is firmed up to help promote cure as each patient journeys toward wholeness.
* Financial – The “Friends of EPCALM” program has a place for you. It can be through a single donation, or a sustained contribution or pledge, to volunteering your talents or getting your business involved. You can also be the foster supporter in the “Adopt-A-Patient” program or you can host your own fundraising event for the benefit of the leukemia foundation or specific patients.
Job summary of Social Worker
Responsible for providing social services and developmental assistance that shall empower identified Program beneficiaries to be self-sufficient and self-reliant; and respond to various crisis situations.
Daily duties and responsibilities of Social Worker
a. Monitors identified Program beneficiaries.
b. Prepares case study reports; progress reports and updates to cases.
c. Provides appropriate action to walk-in clients and phoned-in questions.
d. Coordinates with partner agencies and organizations on referrals.
e. Conducts counseling sessions and intake interviews with Program beneficiaries.
f. Provides appropriate intervention and referral services for beneficiaries to government Health Centers and other social service providers.
g. Performs related functions as Social Worker, and other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Standard qualifications of Social Worker
The Social Worker should possess the following knowledge, skills, competencies and other characteristics:
a. Education
– Graduate of Bachelor of Social Work; and must have passed the government licensure examination for social workers
b. Experience
– Has worked for at least one year as Social Worker, or has demonstrated experience in progressively responsible work and field implementation in social development work
c. Skills/Competencies/Others
– Computer literate
– Can prepare case study reports and updates
– Has current knowledge of development and technology in related field of work
– Has demonstrated ability to manage confidential information
– Observes tact and diplomacy in dealing with beneficiaries, volunteers and the public at-large.
– Of good moral character.
