Disaster Risk Reduction Officer – Manila – Food for the Hungry

FH PHILIPPINES IS LOOKING FOR A – DISASTER RISK REDUCTION OFFICER – with solid experience in disaster risk reduction.

Project Output/ Results:
The evacuation situation in the event of future natural disasters has improved significantly
Awareness, networking, capacity development and planning of the necessary evacuations take place within the population and the authorities at district and municipal level.
Vulnerable sections of the seashore and riverbank zones function as erosion control and flood protection storm
The danger of landslides with catastrophic potential is reduced.
By dialogue platform the participation of the target population in the project and thus the desired sustainability of physical measures is achieved. From the dialogue platform, the population is sensitized about the emissions of harmful gases and climate change in everyday life. Measures to induce climate whose behavior are planned and implemented
The DISASTER RISK REDUCTION (DRR) OFFICER GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
The DRR Officer is responsible in ensuring the efficient and effective implementation and of the DRR initiatives in the assigned area. He is also responsible in coordinating and building capacity of community stakeholders in the area of DRR.

QUALIFICATION:
Essential Knowledge and Experience
Christian commitment to serving the poor and in full agreement with FH Christian foundation and beliefs as expressed in our vision mission and values
Actual experience of responding in disasters
Minimum of 2-3 Years of experience in DRR program
Experience in INGO work
Demonstrated ability to communicate with and others and build strong working relationship
Strong coordination and facilitation skills. Experience in training and capacity building
Knowledge and experience in working with other culture is helpful
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to write reports

MUST BE A FILIPINO
Education: A relevant degree in environmental development studies
