Job Description / Requirements
Position Responsibilities
• MySQL database server architecture & configuration management, HA/DR design and implementation, and schema analysis and tuning
• Monitor system stability and performance and ensure system availability, reliability, and usability
• Troubleshoot complex problems, provide software fault diagnosis, resolve operational issues, and interact with vendors, etc.
• Deliver server maintenance and software upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, vulnerabilities, and security configurations with minimal software down-time
• Manage system troubleshooting and backups
• Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
• Execute database management, tuning and optimization activities
• Define and document system architectures, systems configurations, and technical operational processes and policies
• Create and implement monitoring, procedures, tools and standards related to system and application security (e.g. intrusion detection, denial of service, configuration change, cross site scripting, SQL injection, OS patching, etc.)
*Qualifications
• 2+ years experience supporting MySQL nodes and clusters hosting enterprise customers
• 2+ years of experience with Linux systems administration
• Diverse range of technical and operational interests and capabilities, including Debian & Ubuntu Linux, LAMP, MySQL, monitoring, and automation technologies
• Understanding of MySQL high availability and clustering configurations
• Experience with enterprise monitoring and management tools
• Experience with configuration management systems and version control
• Ability to work in high pressure, highly flexible environment against both short and long term requirements
• Passionate about technology and solving IT operations-focused problems
• Must be detail oriented, task driven, and have excellent communication skills. Customer service focus is key
• Ability to work effectively with staff, peers, and others in and outside the organization to accomplish goals, objectives and to identify and resolve problems
